What will I learn in this course?
In this course students will build upon their foundation experiences in Photography 1/2 and create, research, analyze, evaluate, and respond to the artistic, the design, and the visual language elements of Photography. Students will apply their learning through the creation of photographic works that address various subsets within Commercial Photography. Through this, students will develop their own personal voice in their photographic work. Throughout the course students will be detailing their creative journey and process and research through keeping a Visual Journal (physical or virtual). Throughout the year students will work toward the culminating projects to demonstrate their learning and growth in ability. These culminating projects include students creating a portfolio, a website, and a resume.
The goal of this course is to prepare students to continue in photography as an art form and as a career path.
Who can take this course?
Photo 1/2 is a prerequisite for this course, anyone who has taken Photo 1/2 successfully can move on to this course.
What are the goals of this course?
This course is meant to help students expand on, and excel in, the further development of their photographic skills. This course is designed to help students understand what is required to work in Photography and related fields. In this course students will write a resume, complete a professional portfolio, and create a personal website for their photography. Using these tools students will be able to gain internships and/or work in the field of photography.
What makes this course unique?
This course is unique in that it offers students the ability to:
- Earn transferable college credit, 3 units
- Receive HONORS level credit, where students can earn weighted credit towards their GPA
- Satisfy a- g requirements - UC approved HONORS a-g course - "f" requirement course, can be a "g" if "f" requirement already satisfied
- Satisfy CTE and/or VPA course credit needs, you can choose which it will satisfy
- Be part of a CTE pathway
- Work to get Adobe Photoshop Certified
